Description
Between six and eight in the morning Jaipur looks like a different city. The bazaars are shuttered, the light comes in low along the streets, and the only people about are delivering milk, sweeping, or on their way to a temple.
Your guide knows where the light lands at each time of year and which rooftops you can get onto. Bring whatever camera you own — this works just as well with a phone.

The old city gates and empty streets
The walls at their pinkest, before traffic and before the shutters go up.
Sunrise
A rooftop over Hawa Mahal
The classic view, from a terrace that opens early for us. Chai included.
After sunrise
Markets waking up and a temple morning service
The flower market unloading, the first customers, and a temple at the end of the morning prayers.

Where we meet you
Hotel lobby, pre-dawn. If you would rather sleep, take the old city walk in the afternoon instead — we will say so honestly if that suits you better.
Good to know
- About 3 km on foot, slowly, with a lot of stopping.
- Tripods are fine on the street and on the rooftop.
- Ask before photographing people; your guide will help.
