Description
The old city is a grid laid out in 1727, and the best way to understand it is to walk it. We start at the edge of the bazaar district and work inward through the trades — bangle makers, block printers, silversmiths, the flower market — ending where the light is best.
This is not a shopping tour. If you want to buy something your guide will tell you what it should cost and then leave you to it.
How the day runs
Hour 1
Bapu and Johari bazaar
The main commercial streets, the logic of the grid, and why everything is pink.
Hour 2
The craft lanes
Into the side streets where the work actually happens — lac bangles, hand block printing, and the metal beaters you hear before you see.
Hour 3
Temples, the flower market and Hawa Mahal
A working temple at the end of the afternoon service, the flower sellers outside it, and the facade of Hawa Mahal from the street opposite.

Where we meet you
We collect you from your hotel and drive to the start point, then walk. Mornings and late afternoons only — the middle of the day is too hot to enjoy this.
Good to know
- Around 4 km of walking on uneven pavement, at a slow pace with stops.
- Shoes that come off easily — you will enter at least one temple.
- Not suitable for wheelchairs; the lanes are narrow and often blocked.
