If you only have a morning in Jaipur, this is the one to take. Amber Fort deserves two unhurried hours rather than the forty minutes a packed itinerary gives it, and the stepwells nearby are the sort of place travellers remember long after the forts blur together.

Twenty-five minutes out of the city, past the old walls and up the valley.

Two hours with your guide. We take the quieter route through the fort so you see the courtyards in the order they were meant to be seen.

Panna Meena ka Kund
The zigzag stepwell — eight storeys of criss-crossing stairs, largely empty in the morning.

Jal Mahal and the causeway
The palace sitting in the middle of Man Sagar lake, and a short walk along the water.

Where we meet you
Hotel lobby pickup anywhere in Jaipur. Earlier starts are better in summer — we will suggest one if your date falls between April and July.
Good to know
- Fifteen-minute uphill walk at Amber; jeeps can be arranged.
- Passport needed at the ticket counter.
- The stepwell has no railings and steep edges — fine for most people, worth knowing if you are travelling with small children.
